Here are a few ways to access the EchoLink System on the 440 repeater:
1. To connect to another known station, just enter the station’s node number.
a. Example, to connect to Fort Wayne’s Link you would enter “37585”; you
will then hear “connecting to W9VD Repeater”. Wait for the
acknowledgement that you are connected. You can then converse
normally. To disconnect the link, enter the # (pound) key.
2. To connect to a Random Link or Repeater, enter 01 (zero one). This will
randomly connect the repeater to another Link or Repeater. This could be
anywhere in the world. Again use the # key to disconnect.
Notes:
• Remember to use the # (pound) key to disconnect at any time.
• To hear the current status of the Echolink system, enter 08 (zero eight). The
link will respond with either “disconnected”, or the station call that is
currently connected.
• To reconnect to the last station connected, enter 09 (zero nine). The link will
then connect to the last station that was connected to the Echolink system.
Basically a redial feature.
• You will occasionally hear stations connecting inbound from other systems.
The link will say “callsign XXXXX connected”. These are users on other
systems connecting to the Decatur system.
Here are just a few stations that you may be interested in, you can also visit
http://www.echolink.org/el/logins.asp . This is the current active list of stations. There
are anywhere from 3800 to 4200 stations active at any given time. Also, there are over
200,000 hams using the Echolink system software!

This is just a very small sample of stations on Echolink. Odds are you can find a
station in the location you are looking for. As you can see most stations are either on
2 meters or 70 CM. There are some on 6 meters and even a few on 10 meters. Some
are working on getting Echolink to work on HF, but that has some challenges to
overcome. Any questions or problems please email me at w9ryn@mchsi.com . Or
give me a call on 443.725; I usually am monitoring that freq, or 145.47. Enjoy the
system!! 73 Derek, W9RYN
